I'm going to venture to say that I have just about the most
sectional sofas sitting around in a warehouse in Chicago. This was a custom order for a furniture store whose customer I guess ended up in hard times and never picked it up. We end up keeping the custom order deposit and we still get stuck with the sofa. You might think that deposit for your sectional sofa is profit for us, but that's not true. We end up losing money on the sofa, plus we have to have it sit in our warehouse, sometimes for years and then we finally end up marking it down even further so someone will eventually take it.
The sectional sofa below is premium leather (the real real good stuff) so it would have probably retailed for around $4500. It would be a bargain for anyone that picked it up. If we have a nice retail floor space I bet that we would be able to get a premium for it, but not in the warehouse atmosphere.
